Goldsmiths Idents

Identity animations for Goldsmiths University of London.

Client: Goldsmiths, University of London
Role: Motion Designer
Tools: After Effects, Cinema 4D

I designed these idents while working at Goldsmiths, to be used in showreels and on display screens at exhibitions and around buildings, and for film festival screenings.

Ident 1 - Spotlight

Ident 1 - Spotlight

The first ident concept refers to the art gallery wall, and the spotlight of a performance. It is deliberately subtle, understated, monochrome and minimal, to make way for the content it precedes.

Ident 2 - RGB

Ident 2 - RGB

The second ident refers specifically to digital filmmaking. Most digital displays, and cameras (at the time) using a combination of red green and blue (RGB) pixels to display images, and RGB cells to capture light. The ident passes RGB pixels through the logo in 3D - the logo is never revealed completely in a still frame, can only be seen in motion through an implied persistence of vision.
